Rosetta Christina White

July 2, 1973 - January 5, 2025

Rosetta Christina White, affectionately known as Rose was born to Myrna Lynn White in New Orleans, LA, on July 2, 1973. She was the oldest of 8 children. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at St. Anthony Divine Spiritual Church in New Orleans, LA.

Rosetta was a loving mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She attended Paul L. Dunbar Elementary School and Livingston Middle School in her younger years, graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in 1991, and briefly attended Nicholls State University. Rosetta was a homemaker and caretaker who loved her family dearly. She had a special relationship with her Grandmother Ruth, whom she viewed as another mother. She took on the role of caretaker when Grandmother Ruth fell ill and took care of her for years until she passed.

Rosetta’s love for fashion inspired her to work for Jean Nicole clothing store in the early 90’s. Her love for the color RED was borderline obsessive. Not only did she wear the color red a lot, but her home was filled with red decor, even down to the color of the pots in her kitchen. She had an affinity for mathematics and puzzles like Sudoku, which she always confidently completed with a pen. She cherished making memories with her family, even participating in a pretend girl group with her sisters and aunt called “Convert”, managed by her uncle Kenneth White. The odd thing about this is that even though she was an official member of that group, she never really sang; she just went along with it to make them happy. Her dear love for her siblings lives on in many memories of events and activities she shared with them, such as the 1994 viewing of The Lion King, gingerbread-making competitions, and playing double-dutch with her sisters. She loved watching movies and was an avid fan of the Lord of the Rings and other superheroes movies. In fact, whichever movies she loved, she would always watch them on repeat. These movie marathons continued, even after she fell ill, and included some of her favorites such as The Preacher’s Wife, The Notebook, & the 1985 original version of The Color Purple. She was also an expert hair braider and solitaire card player. Rosetta enjoyed cooking. She adored overcooked grits with butter, salt and pepper or with creole seasoning. She was the only one who perfected the correct ratio of butter to grits that was acceptable for her beloved grandmother to enjoy. She also loved popcorn, cappuccinos, and ice cream! Her signature dishes were Oyster/Seafood Dressing, Mac & Cheese, Eggnog, Shrimp & Grits, and Pecan Candy (without nuts of course!).

She moved to San Antonio in the late 90’s and earned her Associate’s degree in Accounting, while working for the Texas Workforce Commission as a career counselor. When she later moved to Houston, TX, she worked for Rooms To Go.

Rosetta (Rose) Christina White departed this life on Sunday evening, January 5, 2025, after a years-long battle with several illnesses. Rosetta is gone from her earthly home but is now resting, illness free, with her Savior and she will never be forgotten. She leaves to cherish her memory her favorite daughter Christina Brejon Rising, her favorite oldest son Christopher Bryant Rising and her favorite youngest son Christian Anthony Rising, her mother Myrna Kerry and stepfather Robert Kerry, her siblings Octavia Smith (Wisdom), Truevelia Candy Moody (Creighton), Lynn Williams, Marcus White, Andre Kerry (Grace), Anrae Kerry (Shannon), and Jamar Kerry. She also leaves to cherish her memory 3 Great Aunts, Lillian Edwards, Rosie Profit, and Brenda Profit, 3 Aunts, Angela Turner, Lorie White, and Keyuana Bass, 4 uncles, Kenneth White, Claude White, Cardell White and Terrence White, 3 nieces, Xavier Smith, Bailey Smith, and Raegan Moody, 4 nephews, Cornell Hood, Wisdom Smith, Ellis Moody and Kaiyel Kerry and a host of cousins, other family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Ruth Rose White, aunt, Lillian Skinner, and uncles, George and James White.
