Lafayette -

Toby Charles Fontenot, age 37, passed away on July 9, 2022, in Krotz Springs, LA.

Toby was born on December 27, 1984, in Lafayette, LA and he was a lifelong resident of Lafayette, LA. Although born with cystic fibrosis, Toby exhibited a zest for life and lived it to the fullest with a heart full of love and a great sense of adventure. He overcame physical adversity to achieve professional success in occupations that demanded physical strength and stamina, most recently as Facilities Director at Ascension Episcopal School. Toby was always in motion, beginning with riding a four-wheeler with his dad as a child. One of his greatest pleasures was riding his motorcycle, especially on road trips where he could be in nature. Most important to him were his relationships with family and friends. He was a devoted son and the most caring and loyal friend a person could have. Toby will be dearly missed.

Toby is survived by his parents, Nancy Pearl Goodwin; his cousins, Mary Kruppe, and Carl Hall (Pam); his uncle, Van Deshotel; his beloved, Amanda Kimble; and a lifetime of dear and wonderful friends, too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Brose Fontenot and his twin sister, Kasha Robin Fontenot.

The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to Nick Barber and the staff at Cypress Funeral Home for their exceptional compassion and efficiency.

A private memorial is being planned for a later date.

Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555, (337) 740-3123, is in charge of Cremation arrangements.

Toby was my cousin and he was so full of life. I remember the first time I saw him after he was grown. We went to a Cajun restaurant and he danced and danced. Will be truly missed

Toby welcomed us to Cajun Country with open arms and regularly reminded us that life is for living, loving, helping others, sharing stories, dancing, exploring, traveling, adventuring, smiling and bringing smiles & laughter to those around you at every opportunity. He embodied living for the moment, but always with an eye out for the next great adventure. When times were sad he made them happy. When times were happy he made them fun. When times got tough he was always there to listen intently and lend a hand or offer advice or moral support. That energy of his will surely live on through all the hearts he touched. And did he ever touch some hearts! Journey well beloved brother. We’ll miss you dearly Toby,

Toby was my cousin. Didn't get to spend much time with him, but when I did, he always had a smile on his face and a ton of fun in his heart. Love to Nancy family and friends

Toby was an incredible person. He was by far the most caring and loving person I know. Always willing to help. He did not let his cystic fibrosis get in the way of joyful and full life. Always upbeat, always willing to be there for everyone. He will surely be missed by me and definitely many more. Nancy, we are thinking of you and sending love. The love and support the two of you have given each other has always been very special. Love to you Nancy at this difficult time.
