Charles Earl Powers, Jr, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the age of 84. He was born on September 27, 1939, to Charles E Powers, Sr. and Margaret L. Landry Powers. He was a native of Gonzales, LA and a resident of St. Amant, LA. Charles was a devoted Catholic and dedicated to praying the rosary and openly sharing his faith. He looked forward to going on retreats at Manresa, ACT retreats, Cursillo retreats and others. He was also very involved with the Knights of Columbus Council 6389 and a past member, President, and Treasurer with ARC of Ascension. He was a veteran of the U S Army. Charlie enjoyed the outdoors and belonged to numerous hunting and fishing clubs along with gardening. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith Chartin Powers; daughter, Shawn and husband Gerald Painter; grandsons, Cody, Justin and Austin Painter; brothers, Lloyd, Donald, Lawrence, David and wife Sherlyn (Shortie) along with nieces, nephews and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E Powers, Sr and Margaret L Landry Powers, brother, George Powers. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Cody, Justin and Austin Painter; nephews Ralph, Zachary and Cory Powers; great nephew Cody Powers. The honorary pallbearer will be Jarette Daigle. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 44450 LA-429, St Amant, LA 70774 from 9:30am until 11:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am at the church with Fr Matt officiating. Military Honors will be given at the mausoleum with the U S Army Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the ARC (Community Opportunity of East Ascension Parish/COEA) Church Funeral Services of St Amant is in charge of the arrangements.
