A gathering celebrating the life of Craig “Popeye” Bercegeay Sr., will be held beginning at 12:00noon until 2:00pm Wednesday November 3, 2021, at Berthelot Hall in St Amant.. Interment will follow at Cornerview Cemetery.
Mr. Bercegeay was born on June 29, 1954, in Fort Lewis, Washington and passed from this life on October 22, 2021, at the age of 67 years. He was a resident of French Settlement, retired truck driver with DSI Trucking and Ascension Parish Barn. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical, fishing, hunting, and being on his C B Radio where his handle was “Midnight Rider”. He enjoyed his time living with his late wife in Cocodrie, shrimping, and living on the Gulf surround by great friends. His passion was time spent with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Helen “Olive Oil” Bercegeay, father Constant “Junior” Bercegeay Jr, his C B Radio Buddy “Frog” and his canine companion “Precious”.
Survivors include his children Christina Bercegeay, Brian Pankey, Craig Bercegeay Jr (Amber), his mother Nell T. Bercegeay, grandchildren Savannah, Jadynn, and Harlie Duhe’, Alexie Millien, Kimberly Rouyea, Carsen and Jude Bercegeay; sisters Jennie Bercegeay, Wanda LaBauve (Bozo) and Nona Lambert (Terry), his uncle and Godfather Alton Rouyea (Jane),his aunt Josie Brian (William), his uncle Charles Thomassie, a C B Radio Buddy “Mr. Cookie” and his canine companion Jasmine, also survived by host of other relative and friends.
Pallbearers will be Holden Prejean, Hugo Nievas, Brian Pankey, Craig Bercegeay Jr., Kris Medders and Aaron Hodges. Honorary pallbearer Alton Rouyea.
