Daniel “Dan” McRaven, age 77, passed away on September 17, 2023, at his residence. He was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin McRaven and Lillie Marie Herring McRaven. He was a native of Murphysboro, IL and a resident of Louisiana since 2008. He was a welder for Coastal Bridge for over 13 years, a Vietnam Conflict veteran in the US Army as a cook and received the Sharpshooter medal. He enjoyed spending time watching western movies, fishing when he got the chance and spending important time with the family. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Donna L McRaven; children, Scott Vahldick and wife Lisa and Vickie Barbay and husband Bradley; four grandsons, Dylan, Tyler, Austin and Geovani; brother, Robert Ray; one niece, two nephews, cousins and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patty Augustine. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Compassus Hospice for their love and care extended to Daniel during his time of illness. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his honor which will be given to the Advance Welding School.
