Francis David Kennedy, 76, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of half-finished projects, way too many tools any one person can use, and a variety of people that will miss him dearly.

Born on Jan 9, 1948, in Key West FL, David was the oldest son of Cmdr. Jim (USN retired) and Connie Kennedy. He grew up in various locations around the world following his father’s assignments. He eventually settled in Baton Rouge LA, after meeting the love of his life on a blind date while in technical school at Keesler AFB MS.

David spent 4 years in the USAF as a Ground Radio Communication Equipment Technician. This laid the foundation for his ability to be the “go to” family member to fix anything big or small. After his service he went on to learn drafting and engineering culminating in “retirement” from Dow. From all his experiences he would be the one family would call to fix large appliances, air conditioning units, vehicles, and do it without complaint. These selfless traits are the focus of most people’s memories of David. His hobbies included golf, tinkering with various projects, and shooting guns. His kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who know him.

In his memory, David will be forever remembered and cherished by his wife Anita, his three children, Brian (Lynn), Adam, Katie (Karen). He will be missed by his brother Patrick (Chevy), and his sister Judy (Jack) and the entire Major and Mitchell family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday April 25, 2024, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, with visitation beginning at 10:00 until time of the service.

One memory I will always have with Uncle David was watching Super Bowl XLIII with him in Houston at a Sports Bar back when he was still travelling for his job. I lived by myself in Houston at the time and he ended up being in Houston that Sunday for work meetings the following couple of days. He reached out and we met up at the Fox Sports Grill which was located in the Galleria at the time. We watched the entire game which the Steelers ended up winning against the Cardinals (we both were cheering for the Cardinals) and had a fantastic time hanging out that evening. David was a fantastic Uncle and will be missed.
