It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jamie Barbay Scharlau, who left us on 3/3/2025, at the age of 60. Jamie was a beloved individual whose life touched many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on 5/26/1964, Jamie grew up surrounded by family and friends who admired her warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit. Throughout her life, Jamie's kindness and compassion extended to everyone she met, and she was known for her ability to listen deeply, offer encouragement, and be a source of strength during challenging times.

It was Jamie's love for her family and friends that defined her. She was a dedicated partner, sibling, and friend, and her unwavering loyalty and love will be sorely missed.

Jamie survived by her sisters, Cheryl A Derfun and husband Gary, Monica Lynn Abshire, Christy Cook and husband Scott; nieces and nephews, Felicia Abshire, Jake Abshire and wife Crystal, Michelle Stafford, Brandy Gros, Ashley Clark and husband Stacy and Jessica Gros; great niece and nephew, Mariah Abshire, Brendan Woodyard, Mason Edward Abshire, Logan Gros, Jaycie Waler, Josiah Walker, Justis Walker, Jermey Steward, Joshua Bryce Alford, Eliana Brielle Levatino, Jaylen Darville, Maddox Darville, Gabriel Clark, Caleb Clark, and Levi Clark who will forever cherish her memory.

She is preceded in death by grandparents, Albert and Marie Delanoix; parents, James and Janice Barbay; partner, Alvin Moore; sister, Kim B. Williams; nephew, Lylie Abshire. Jaime's family and friends take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, kindness, and integrity will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at a later time, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory, and share stories of his remarkable life. Jamie’s presence will be deeply missed, but her love, her lessons, and her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
