Joan VanSickel McCluskey, 81, passed away October 28, 2023, 12:30 AM at Baton Rouge General, Mid City. She was a resident of Watson, LA and was born January 31, 1942 in Reading, PA. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 12855 Old Hammond Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816. She loved God and Her family. She was a very loving and generous sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved crocheting and giving her crocheted items to many people. If you ever met her, you probably have something she made. She was very talented and loved many crafts. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Virginia VanSickel; two brothers, Harold and Willis VanSickel; and one sister, Linda V Deselle. Joan is survived by her four sons; Michael and Sarah Lewis, Billy and Megan McCluskey, Travis McCluskey, Kenny and Kim McCluskey; two sisters, Charlotte and Ronald DeShazo, Nancy and Robert Welch; one brother, David and Georgette VanSickel; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family expresses their deepest gratitude for the wonderful people at Pinnacle Home Health and the staff at the Baton Rouge General that took care of her. A special thank you to her niece, Jennifer Welch, who was with her to the end. Finally, we humbly thank all who prayed for us and her, as God’s Love continues to bring comfort during this trying time.
