Joaquin Constantino Kourtesis Ruiz

On October 3rd, 2023, our hearts were shattered as we bid farewell to our cherished 7-week-old
son, Joaquin Constantino Kourtesis Ruiz. Born on August 12th,, 2023, Joaquin graced our lives
with boundless joy and love, enriching the world of his devoted parents, Bradley Ruiz and
Stephanie Kourtesis, as well as his adoring elder sisters, Lea and Camila.
Born a few weeks early, Joaquin joined our family on a beautiful August day. His name carries
profound meaning, paying tribute to the memory of Joaquin Kuyeng, who departed from us just
last year after a long battle with COVID-19. Joaquin Kuyeng was more than a namesake; he
stood as a guiding light and a paternal figure to Stephanie, leaving an enduring void in our
hearts upon his departure.
Camila, Joaquin's adoring big sister, treasured every precious moment with her baby brother,
cradling him, holding him close, and delighting in their playful interactions. Despite the
geographical distances that separated us, our extended family in Baton Rouge, Florida,
Asheville, New York, Berlin, Austin, California and Lima came to see him, called daily, and
awaited his development with boundless anticipation and love.
Joaquin's memory will forever be cherished by his loving family, spread across the globe, as
well as by all those who had the privilege of loving him. He leaves behind a legacy of love that
will endure through the memories we share of his all-too-brief but deeply meaningful life.
While the wounds in our hearts from his absence will never fully heal, we draw comfort from the
knowledge that we will encounter his spirit every day in the people and places we love. Our
beloved baby boy, Joaquin, you are eternally cherished and loved. May your family find solace
in the love and support of those who share in their grief during this unimaginable heartbreak.
Funeral services for Joaquin will be held on Friday, October 13th, 2023 at Sacred Heart of Jesus
Church, 2250 Main St, Baton Rouge, LA 70802, with visitation at 10:00 am and Mass at 11:00
am.
