Joseph Paul McGinnis, 71, resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023 after a long battle with Cancer. Joseph will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Joseph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane (Olson) McGinnis, their daughter Christine Ann McGinnis and her children Cameron Bryce Mangus and Sophie Grey Mangus, and numerous siblings, nieces, and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Thomas McGinnis and mother Elizabeth “Betty” McGinnis. Joseph was born in Kansas City, MO, but spent much of his life residing in the St. Paul, MN area. The past 25 years, Joseph and wife Diane made Baton Rouge their home, and he spent many years enjoying the cooking and culture of south Louisiana. Joseph was an avid photographer, and also enjoyed cooking, camping, and spending time outdoors. Most dearly, Joseph loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his physician, Dr. Vince Cataldo, and the staff at OLOL Cancer Services, as well as Dr. Mark Kantrow with OLOL Palliative Medicine, who offered exceptional support to the family. In addition, the family would like to extend gratitude to the Hospice of Baton Rouge care team, especially Bridgett, Mona, Lexi, and Jay for their care and compassion. A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to Hospice of Baton Rouge at https://hospicebr.org/giving. The family would welcome your condolences at www.churchfuneralservices.com.
