A ceremony celebrating the life of Mary Lee Shaffett will be held at The River Church on Thursday November 21, 2024. Visitation will begin at 11 am and continue until 1 pm at the time of the service. Interment will follow Twin Pines Cemetery Holden. Mrs. Shaffett was born in Albany on February 12, 1944, and rested from this life at her home on November 14, 2024, at the age of 80 years. Mary retired from Albany Elementary School Cafeteria. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and her passion was time spent with her family and her canine companion “Cookie”. She is preceded in death by her husband Leslie Patrick Shaffett, daughter Susan Annett Shaffett, her parents Leon Otis and Thelma Willie McAllister Sanders, her siblings Annie Mae Sanders, Carol Ann Andrews, Leon Otis Sanders Jr., and Jerry Wayne Sanders. Survivors include her children Patricia Ann Starkey (Ray) and Kenneth Ray Shaffett (Shelia), her sister Gracie Lee Andrews (Alfred), her grandchildren Leslie Shaffett (Emily), Tonya Collins (Jason), Aubrey Mitchell Jr., Kimberly Hebert (Ty), Donna Shaffett, Jennifer Upham (Jason), Natasha Shaffett, Frank Ramos, Lana Ramos, Felisha Ramos, and Richard Ramos, also survived by 31 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren, host of nieces and nephews. Honored to serve as pallbearers Austin Chaney, Charlie Peters, Dustin Fonrouge, Brandon Smith, Jonathan Hebert, and Tony Starkey. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Ramos and Jason Collins Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given that will be used by the family to honor Mary's life and memory.
