Mickey Ann Deslatte had a beautiful transition to continue her journey with the Lord. The people in her life who will continue to tell her stories are: Brandi Madere and her family, Brylee Atkinson (great niece) and her Dad, Chris Atkinson; D'Ette Stelly and her family, Brian and boys, Bryce and Nick; Jude, Amy, and Mike Andrepont; Yvonne Andrepont, her partner of 46 years. Other friends who made her life easier these last few years are James Dwyer, Sarah Halker and Julie Duhe. Her Pinnacle team, Krystal, Jennifer, Annisa and John. Special thanks for giving her 9 good years, Dr. Peter Bostick. She loved her 1967 Ladies Lunch Bunch, her Ascension Catholic Family, and work buddies from CF Industries and Agrico Chemicals. Mickey's story is one of inspiration and courage. Mickey skipped college to help with home expenses when her Dad's company went on strike. She tried many jobs that, at that time, were not "women friendly", but people believed in her and trusted her. She was a service writer for a car dealership, then followed her Dad, uncles and brother to Monsanto where she worked to break down walls for women to receive an equal opportunity. She transferred to Agrico Chemical working as an ammonia operator and later the dock. After an accident she took time to recover from a broken neck. She developed a plan for the Book Depot and then joined the GBPW (Gonzales Business and Professional Women) She promoted and supported the women in this organization for many years. Her need for people sent her to take an exciting program and shape it to Ascension Catholic's need. The Scrip program generated thousands of dollars for AC. (It also brought the community together to help one another. It encouraged local
shopping.)She felt the tug of the chemical plant life and hired on as a security guard. Mickey was a warrior who beat pancreatic cancer for 9 years, even going back to work after Whipple surgery. She inspired others with her medical miracles and brought hope to those who dreaded hearing the words pancreatic cancer. She fought:... for women's rights in the workplace, she led the way in medical research by trying new procedures that helped others through her successes. ...to be a productive member of society...to open doors previously closed to women ...the willingness to try experimental medical procedures for herself and others....to live and she did. If you knew Mickey, she impacted you in some way.
