A ceremony celebrating the life of Monica Hammack Holmes will be held at 11 am on Saturday August 22, 2020 at Satsuma Baptist Church; visitation will begin at 8:30 am. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Monica was born on May 16, 1985 in Baton Rouge and past from this life on August 18, 2020 at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice at the age of 35 years.
She was a resident of Prairieville, and was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and a member of the Pentecostal Faith. She loved spending time with her family, friends and especially her sisters, nieces, and nephew. She enjoyed planning special events for family and friends. She cared for her patients by going above and beyond by ensuring their needs were met even with her own money at times. She enjoyed listening to county music and was an avid and devout LSU Football fan. She was passionate about her role as a nurse, and passionately loved and doted on her family and friends. Always with a smile on her face and giving with her enormous heart.
She is preceded in death by her mother Patricia Barragan Hammack, her father Ricky Dale Hammack, grandparents Severo Barragan, Frances Clark Barragan, Louis Hammack, uncles Anthony and Luis Barragan and brother-in-law David Weigel Jr.
She is survived by her sisters Tricia Barragan Weigel of Prairieville and Lisa Hammack Featherston husband Michael of Gonzales; former husband Joshua Holmes, nieces Taylor and Kayla Weigel, nephew Tristan Featherston; paternal grandmother Helen Hammack, aunt and uncle Rhonda and Larry Head, aunt Romona Barragan and great uncle Floyd Barragan; also survived by her beloved canine nieces Lulu and Sophie and canine nephew Jack; also numerous other extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
Heartfelt thanks to her caregivers and medical doctors at Baton Rouge General Medical Center and Clarity Hospice; thank you to the numerous coworkers and friends who have shown their support and love for Monica; and to everyone for assistance with her funeral expenses.
