Philip Andrew Hollis Sr., born April 29, 1937, a native of Covington, Kentucky and a longtime resident of Luling, Louisiana and recent resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully Sunday October 6, 2024, with his wife and children by his side. He was a great husband and father and a friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
Philip moved to Mobile, Alabama when he was 10 years old. After graduation from high school, he joined the United States Coast Guard in which he served at various duty stations along the east coast of the United Sates and the Philippines. Upon being honorably discharged, he began working in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he eventually met, married, and began a family with Marie A. Carson.
Philip had various occupations in industry including several of the construction trades, education provider, and management. His career path provided opportunities to travel and impart knowledge to many places in the United Sates, Europe and Asia. Over the years he engaged in various community activities as a member of the American Legion Post 131, Shriners and Eagles.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Forsythe Hollis and Mabel Pope Hollis, and sisters Majorie Robinson, Ruth Taylor, and Doris Hollis. He is survived by his wife Marie Hollis, son Philip Hollis Jr; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Telly Comeaux Hollis; daughter Peggy Hollis; granddaughter Kaylie Hollis; nieces Shari Morgan, Renae Robinson, and Delane Taylor Corte; nephew Doug Taylor and dear friends.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Luling at noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024 with a reception at the CA building afterward from 1pm – 3pm.
